Engaging with your BIBLE

by on Mar.08, 2011, under Blog

We all know we should read the Bible, but sometimes it’s  easy to put it at the bottom of our priority list.  Other times it looks too big and too hard.  And sometimes we just forget.

Using a Bible reading plan is a great way to give structure to our Bible-reading, and an easy way to incorporate Bible-reading into our routines and develop good habits.

Below are a some links to Bible reading plans that you can start to use to read your Bible more consistently and in a way that helps you get the most out of it.  No matter if you’re looking to find out more about the basics, to focus on specific themes or to read the WHOLE Bible, there is a plan for you

Tips for Bible Reading:

  • Choose a reading plan and try to stick to it! (But if you miss a day, don’t stress – add what you missed into other days, pick up where you left off or even catch up by missing a day or two)
  • Get an accountability partner – someone who checks up on how you’re going.  It might be a friend who does the same reading plan, it might be a parent or your Life Group leader
  • Pray before you read that God will help you to understand what you are reading and give you a better picture of who He is and His story
  • Find a translation that suits you – for lots of different translations visit www.biblegateway.com
  • Ask questions – try and find the answers yourself, or ask a parent, pastor, friend or leader
  • Finally, make it fun – journal, paint, draw, compose, dance, sing or whatever else helps you to best understand God’s Story

Trevor Chandler

by on Mar.28, 2009, under Blog

Pastor Trevor Chandler was kind enough to visit us and impart some words of true wisdom in to the life of Frontline Youth this week.  While he is not as young as he use to be, he is still as quick witted as anything and fully passionate about God.  He challenged us on seeking God’s will and how we can know we are in his will.

Pastor Trevor will be speaking at LMC this Sunday, both morning and night services.  Get along!

A few notes I grabbed to help remind you of some of what he said:

  • There are only two choices – In God’s will, or not in God’s will
  • God doesn’t make it hard if you are in his will
  • We will go through trials but our question should be ‘Lord what I can learn from this’
  • Jesus’ main priority was to follow God’s will
  • We need a willingness to learn and a willingness to seek his will
  • Romans 12:1-3

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  • Matt 6:10

your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

  • Matt 10:29

29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny[a]? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

  • Matt 12:50

50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

  • God has a plan for us!
  • He gives us everything we need to see his will in our lives fulfilled!
